Significant features and benefits

Hiscox offer some of the broadest levels of cover available, giving our customers true peace of mind. All communications, including the policy wordings, are written in plain English with no jargon to ensure that you know exactly what is and, as importantly, what is not covered. This policy is specifically designed for bands musicians and artists and includes the following as standard:
Musical equipment cover which includes the following as standard:
Theft or damage to your musical equipment, including instruments, lighting and visual effects equipment, amplification equipment and mixing and editing equipment;
Theft or damage whilst your musical equipment is being used as part of your performance, being stored by you or being transported by you;
Cover for continuing hire charges you are liable for following insured damage to musical equipment that you hired in
Cover for the reasonable costs of hiring alternative musical equipment to carry out a performance following insured damage to your own musical equipment
Automatic cover for small additions musical equipment you purchase or replace during the policy period
Public and products liability cover which includes the following as standard:
claims made against you for bodily injury or damage to third party property as a result of your activities.
Optional additional cover: Employers’ liability cover which includes the following as standard:
claims against you for your legal liability for bodily injury to your employees.
Significant or unusual exclusions/limitations
You will normally have to pay an initial amount for each claim made against you under the policy. These excesses may vary and your quotation and policy schedule will show the specific excesses applicable to you.
You have an obligation to take reasonable steps to prevent accident or injury and to protect your property against loss or damage. You must also keep any property insured under this policy in good condition and repair.

Any claims, circumstances, incidents or shortcomings arising from your business activity which you knew about or ought reasonably to have known about prior to the inception of the policy are excluded unless notified previously.
Any special conditions, limitations or terms that may apply will be clearly shown in your individual quotation and schedule.
Musical equipment cover excludes the following as standard:
damage to musical equipment caused by inadequate packing;
damage to musical equipment whilst being cleaned, repaired, modified or maintained
theft of musical equipment from any vehicle unless kept our of sight in a locked compartment and all security measures on the vehicle being in force at the time the theft occurs
damage caused by wear and tear, inherent defect, infestation, rot, mould, fungus or any gradually operating cause
Public and products liability cover excludes the following as standard:
any claim arising directly or indirectly from your ownership, possession, maintenance or use of any aircraft, hovercraft, watercraft or any mechanically propelled vehicles and their trailers.
any claim arising from any abuse, assault, harassment, mistreatment or maltreatment
Employers liability cover excludes the following as standard:
claims against you for liability arising from the use of any vehicle subject to the road traffic act.
Your side of the bargain
Remember, your premium and insurance cover will be based specifically on the details you provide to us. So the information you give us will form a record of your unique combination of demands, needs and circumstances.
Please make sure the information you send us is complete and accurate, and inform us immediately of any changes in circumstances that may affect the services provided by us or the cover provided by your policy. This is particularly important before taking out a policy, but it also applies throughout the life of a policy. You need to bear in mind:
If you fail to disclose any information material to the insurance you could invalidate the policy and claims may not be paid.
You should read and check all insurance documents to ensure that you are aware of the cover, limits and other terms that apply.
Please be aware of all terms and conditions of your policy as failure to comply with them could invalidate it.
In the event of a claim, you should take note of the required procedures, such as prompt notice to us of the claims, as stated in the policy documentation.

As with any insurance, you have an obligation to take reasonable steps to mitigate any loss.
Duration of contract

Insurance contracts normally run for a period of 12 months and your contract period will be clearly shown in your schedule of
insurance.
Cancellation rights

If within the first 14 days of the period of insurance you decide that you do not wish to take this policy then we will give you a full refund of the premium and treat this policy as if it never existed.
If you decide to cancel this policy , and you have not made a claim, we will give you a refund for the remaining period subject to a minimum non-refundable premium of £10 excluding insurance premium tax. You may cancel the insurance by giving us 30 days’ notice in writing of your intention to do so.
We may cancel the insurance by giving you 30 days’ notice by post to your correspondence address shown in the schedule. We will return any premium you have paid for any period of insurance left.

If this is not possible the Hiscox claims team can be contacted during business hours on 0845 213 8899 (please select option 1or 2 as appropriate). You will need to provide your Hiscox policy number and full details of the claim, including the date, amount and circumstances of loss.
If you require emergency assistance in relation to substantial damage to your property; then you can call us directly using our 24-hour emergency assistance number (outside of normal business hours) on 0870 241 6257.
Our out of hours emergency assistance team operate on a pay and claim basis and you will need to have credit card details available as appropriate; the team will then be able to direct you to essential tradesmen, emergency loss adjusters or disaster management companies in the event of significant loss or damage. Your policy schedule will reflect if property cover is included in your policy.
